USING AN EDITING SUITE

Two video editing stations are available in the Film Board office. To book, click the link above and enter your full name and time slot into the calendar (maximum six hours in one day). Do not remove the names of others from the calendar, doing so will warrant a full suspension from the Film Board’s services.

You need to sign out the room key from front desk staff at the Hub. You must have a valid membership to sign out the edit room key. DO NOT leave the building with the key. Any time you leave the room for more than a few minutes, even if you are still working on a project, you must return the key to the Hub. Other members may need to access the room.

BOOKING RULES

  • You are only allowed a max of 5 timeslots per week. The timeslots available are:

    • 7am-10am

    • 10am-1pm

    • 1pm-4pm

    • 4pm-7pm

    • 7pm-11pm

  • Editing Hours are not available from 4-7pm on Mondays and Thursdays.

ROOM ETIQUETTE

Members are are allowed guests in the edit suite. However, if other members are also using the room the guests may be asked to leave. Please keep a reasonable sound level if other members are using the room.

ACCESSING THE COMPUTERS

You will need a login and password. In order to obtain a login and password, please send an email to support@harthouse.ca. Provide them with the receipt you received when you purchased a film board membership. They should create a new account for you quickly. Note that they are unavailable over the weekend and outside their regular working hours. If they haven’t responded in a couple of days, let us know at hhfb.info@gmail.com.

ACCESSING ADOBE CREATIVE CLOUD

The license is attached to the computers themselves. As a result, you may access the Creative Cloud by signing into an arbitrary account. Therefore, if you do not have an account, you may simply create your own account. You will have complete access to the Creative Cloud, from our computers.

**Note:

It is not recommended to save anything on the C drive. Try saving everything externally on your own personal HDD/SSD. You may also use the two additional hard drives available on both computers. However, note that anything saved onto one computer is not accessible through the other. In addition, anything saved on the additional hard drives unlike the C drive will be accessible to all members.

AVAILABLE SOFTWARE

Adobe Premiere Pro for video editing and Adobe After Effects for special effects.

BOOKING LIMITS

Editing stations may be booked for a maximum 6 hours per day and a maximum of 12 hours in one week. You can use the facilities more often, on a drop-in basis, subject to availability.

LATE POLICY

If you are 15 minutes late for your booked time you may forfeit if another member wants to use it.

EDITING SOFTWARE TUTORIALS

Every few months Hart House runs classes covering video editing in Premiere Pro. Check the Hart House Creative LifeSchool page for information. One-on-One classes can be arranged with the curators for a fee that can be discussed (email hhfb.info@gmail.com).

EDITING STATION USE POLICIES

Members can bring their own hard drives to save their work. The computers are compatible with USB 2 and USB 3 cables. For the hard drive format, we recommend NTFS or exFAT (exFat also works with Mac computers). The computers at the Film Board currently DO NOT have slots for SD cards.

If you want to save your project to the computer, save to either of the HHFB hard drives. Please create a folder for your work. These hard drives are for public use. To prevent them from filling up, curators will delete files older than 6 months. Please remember to back up your data on your own hard drive!

Members who use the computers and/or film and video equipment for unlawful purposes in any way will have their membership immediately suspended and the situation will be passed on to police if necessary.

Removing other member reservations from the editing calendar will warrant an immediate suspension; doing so multiple times will result in a full ban from the Film Board.
